Taste of Cambridge

“TASTE OF CAMBRIDGE” 2008 IS ANNOUNCED”

Taste of Cambridge Committee schedules 6th Annual Taste of Cambridge for June 19th and nominates 2 charitable foundations as its beneficiaries, Community Servings and Harvard Square Homeless Shelter.

It’s time for the 2008 “Taste of Cambridge,” the 6th annual charitable food festival, which highlights many of the diverse and delicious restaurants that Cambridge has to offer.  This year’s event will also be emceed by Cambridge’s own Jimmy Tingle.

This year’s “Taste of Cambridge” will take place Thursday June 19, 2008 in the beautiful outdoor courtyard at 100-800 Technology Square, Cambridge from 5:30 - 8:30 pm.  Every year, more than 2,000 men and women of all ages attend and sample some of Cambridge’s finest cuisine.  Students, families and corporate executives come from all over Cambridge and Boston to sample fare from nearly 50 local restaurants and enjoy live local music.  Past participating restaurants include: Grafton Street Pub & Grill, Upstairs on the Square, Chez Henri, Temple Bar, Oleana, The Asgard, Craigie Street Bistro, Tavern in the Square, Harvest, East Coast Grill, Rialto, Henrietta's Table, Hong Kong Restaurant, Finale and many more.

The Taste of Cambridge is organized and run by the Cambridge License Advisory Board.  CLAB works to prevent underage drinking and to educate and support liquor license holders in their efforts to prohibit sales to minors.

This year will be our 6th Annual Taste of Cambridge.  We have some new additions this year such as a pastry corner, charcoal grills, and a VIP area and some returning favorites such a Chef’s Hat Raffle and of course live music.

In addition to being a fun way to experience all of the delicious cuisine the “Taste of Cambridge” also benefits different local charities every year. This year the chosen beneficiaries are:

-Community Servings -Dedicated to providing free home-delivered meals throughout eastern Massachusetts to people homebound with HIV/AIDS and other acute life-threatening illnesses

-Harvard Square Homeless Shelter which is the only entirely student-run shelter in the country and has provided food, housing, and a friendly, supportive environment for men and women.

Tickets for this popular annual event will be on sale starting May 5, 2008 and can be purchased for $50 in advance or $60 at the door.  VIP tickets are $75.  Tickets will be on sale at www.tasteofcambridge.com, Grafton Street Pub and Grill, Tavern in the Square Central Square, Tavern in the Square Porter Square, Cambridge Brewing Company, Harvard, MIT and at Wholefoods in Cambridge.
