The 27th Annual 2010 MayFair in Harvard Square
Emerges
For an Exquisite Day of Entertainment and Dancing in the STREET!
The 27th Annual MayFair in Harvard Square features six stages of live entertainment: The Main Stage in the Super Crosswalk featuring “The Emerging America Parade – A Moving Festival,” A charity Hair-Cut-A-Thon, Chalk on the Walk; A Dance Stage; Roaming Railroad Train Rides; A Harvard Student Activities Festival, Hot Air Balloon Rides with donations to charity, Beer Gardens; and two-hundred thousand happy people.
Sunday, May 2nd 2010 from Noon until 6:00pm.

New Events this year:
• A “Moving Festival” Parade of Artists, a Rally, and Sideshow Performances celebrating the launch of the Emerging America Festival.
• The Harvard College Student Activities Zone with Free Activities, Lessons and Performances!
In addition to Six stages of live music and dance, MayFair features over 200 artisans and merchants with colorful tents displaying handmade clothing, art, jewelry, and sidewalk sale items. MayFair is the ultimate “taste of” event, offering over 40 booths featuring international cuisine, festival favorites, delicious desserts and free samples!
Stages at MayFair include – Main Stage in the Super Crosswalk, Club Passim Stage on Brattle Street, May Fair Dance Stage, BANDFEST- Holyoke Center Outdoor Stage/ Forbes Plaza (an Art’s First Stage!), A Buskers Stage, Border Cafe Stage on Church Street, and SIDESHOW Stages featuring performances celebrating the “Emerging America Festival,” a collaboration between The American Repertory Theater, The HuntingtonTheatre Company and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston.
HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES - 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, in the Cambridge Common. The RE/MAX Destiny will offer Hot Air Balloon rides to benefit the Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund. Cost is $10 Children and $20 for Adults. For more info and a look at last year’s event: http://blog.insidedestiny.com/?p=54
SPRING HAIR CUT-A-THON!
Get a new spring ‘do for $20 at the MayFair Cut-a-Thon where our very own Harvard Square award-winning salons: Plan b; Salon Bella Mar; and Floyd’s Barber Shop have joined together to spring-up everyone’s look with a new charitable ‘do! All of the proceeds go to The Hoffman Breast Center at Mount Auburn Hospital. Anyone who wishes to donate long braids to Locks of Love with not have to pay entry fee!
KIDS FESTIVAL on CHURCH STREET offering face painting, KIDS CHALK ZONE, Roaming Railroad Train rides, and Matchbox car racing.
CHALK ON THE WALK: Stroll Church Street when the entire block becomes a gallery of Chalk Art. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cambridge and local businesses…last year’s business sponsored artworks raised over $25,000 for local literacy programs!
