About
Join us at Harvard’s Peabody Museum to experience how the Maya use cochineal insects to create the color red. Designed for teens ages 13 to 18, this workshop explores the ingenuity of Maya culture, delving into the processes and significance of cochineal dye making. Participants will learn how the Maya extracted this bold red pigment and will engage in a hands-on activity using these ancient techniques to extract the pigment, paint, and dye cloth.
