Harvard Square’s Holiday Giving Tree

The Harvard Square Business Association (HSBA) members and friends generously donated hats, gloves, socks, mittens, t-shirts, and scarves. These items have been placed in water-tight zipper bags along with candy canes, chocolates and treats.  They are ready to be hung on the Holiday Giving Tree. Please bring your own items similarly packaged, or come and help us place ours.

To celebrate this event, St. Paul’s Boys Choir will perform joyous hymns and songs. These young boys have performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Leonard Bernstein, on the legendary stage of Carnegie Hall, in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican for Pope Francis, and countless Boston Red Sox and Celtics games.  Consisting of singers who are both artistically and technically highly developed, it may be surprising to discover that the boys range from grades 3 through 8.Departing from St. Paul’s Parish at 3:30 p.m, the boys will form a procession from the church down Massachusetts Avenue to the plaza. Their performance will begin at 4:05 p.m. Complimentary hot chocolate and yummy cookies for those attending and for passersby will be served by HSBA staff.

Denise Jillson, executive director of the Harvard Square Business Association said, “We are grateful to our many members for their kindness and generosity. For those who wish to contribute, we will continue to accept donations of new and gently used items throughout the holiday season. Jillson further stated, “In so many ways, Harvard Square is a village. This is one more example of how our village works; we not only care for the Square, but care for our people in the Square.  There is a spirit of warmth that is deeply felt during this cold, dark season. The HSBA is committed to this annual Harvard Square tradition.”
