MARIELLE KRAFT
October 10, 2021 @ 7:00 pm
| $16 – $18Kate Yeager opens
Effective August 6, 2021, Passim will require all staff, performers, and patrons to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine when they work, attend performances, classes, and workshops at Passim. Patrons will be asked to show their vaccination card or a photo of their vaccination card when they enter the club. Patrons will be asked to show proof each time they visit the club. If a patron is not able to show proof of vaccination they will not be allowed to attend the performance, and their ticket purchase will be refunded.
During COVID, Passim has invested in its live stream capability, and we encourage patrons who have not been vaccinated or others who don’t feel comfortable yet visiting the club to watch the live streams or attend online classes instead. If you purchased a ticket but aren’t feeling well, please stay home and watch the livestream instead.
Effective September 3, 2021, the City of Cambridge has issued an emergency order requiring that face masks or coverings be worn in indoor public places. Patrons and staff must wear masks at Passim unless actively eating or drinking. Artists may remove masks when performing and will maintain a 6-ft distance from the audience. Visit https://www.cambridgema.gov/covid19/facecoverings for full information on the Cambridge mask mandate.
Passim is committed to providing a safe environment for all to work, listen, and enjoy live music. It is our hope that we can ease these restrictions once further progress has been made reducing transmission of the virus. Until then, we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
When you hear Marielle Kraft’s music or experience her candid live shows, you feel as though you already know her. The indie pop singer/songwriter, now based in Nashville, displays craftsmanship beyond her years, following suit to artists like Shawn Mendes, Maisie Peters, and Taylor Swift.
Self-taught, the Rhode Island native began playing guitar at 16 and soon writing songs that strike chords with listeners everywhere. Her gift for storytelling is evident through her use of salient detail, raw emotion, and poignant word choice to describe moments “exactly as they feel.”
Over the past few years, Marielle Kraft has self-released one original EP, seven singles, and four official music videos.
Since leaving her full-time teaching career to pursue a life committed to creating music, Marielle Kraft has promise to follow suit to artists like Julia Michaels and Maisie Peters as the young songwriter makes a growing impact in the indie pop scene.
Furthering the lineage of artists like Carol King, Tracey Chapman, and Janis Joplin, 23-year old Kate Yeager’s lyrics and soul-infused vocals transcend stats, trends and ages. She is the next great female troubadour: energetic, bold, and leading with love. At the intersection of a smokey Lower Manhattan jazz club and a summer camp celebration, the New York-based singer-songwriter channels her superpower for empathy and warmth of spirit to create an uncanny connection with her listeners with music ranging from sadness to joy – at times intense and strong and, at others, soothing and breathtakingly refreshing.
With venues as lauded as Radio City Music Hall and Lincoln Center to the intimate legendary haunts of Greenwich Village and a degree from NYU’s Clive Davis Institute on her resume, Kate uses her platform to build a bond of understanding as well as to incite loud and liberating positivity. Kate’s writing professor at NYU, Dan Charnas (The Big Payback, The Breaks), has one rule: students are never allowed to use the words ‘genuine,’ ‘timeless,’ or ‘authentic’ to describe their work. However, after her college showcase, Charnas approached Kate with this amendment. “Tonight I watched my daughter, my wife, and her mother all fall in love with you,” he said. “Kate, you are the only person who is allowed to use the word timeless in this program.”
