Unpacking the Amazon Myth at Harvard Art Museums

Join student guide Paul Tamburro to explore the mythological iconography on a Roman sarcophagus and what it reveals about ancient Roman politics and conceptions of the “other.” In addition to “unpacking” the story behind the carvings on this Amazon “box,” this hour-long talk will investigate the object’s rich production and acquisition history.
