Winemaker Night: Lourdes “Lulu” Martinez Ojeda of Casa Jipi – Wine Tasting Class
March 24 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
| $75
In the company of Lourde“Lulu”, one of the finest woman winemakers in Mexico today, you will discover and taste wines from the historic Baja region.
Lourdes “Lulu” Martinez Ojeda was born and raised in Ensenada, Baja California, on the west coast of Mexico, where she grew up among the vines in her great-grandmother’s vineyard in Mexico. In love with the French language, she left at the age of 18 to improve her French in the Bordeaux region. There, she quickly returned to her roots and shifted to studying winemaking in Bordeaux. She began working at the prestigious Château Brane-Cantenac vineyard in Margaux, where she stayed for 10 years. In 2014, back in Mexico, she became the turbulent and surprising “Lulu”, goddess of the new Baja viticulture, making a radical change in the ancestral practices of local viticulture. Even if her approach is rather classic “à la Bordelaise”, her wines at Bruma Vinícola will amaze you, as her experimental project of Casa Jipi has a more radical, natural, and provocative approach. It just goes to show that behind every great wine there is a great woman. Good wine, Great laughs, Full energy—that’s what’s promised at this evening with Lulu.
