Everyone Loves Latkes
Sunday, December 5th 2010
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Winthrop Street
Harvard Square’s Latkes are delicious, diverse in shape, size, texture and ethnic flavor and are accompanied with creative homemade condiments. Many of the Latkes are traditional, some are Kosher, and some are from our favorite Chinese Restaurant (the Hong Kong is featuring its crowd favorite the “Scallion Potato Pancake”)!
Traditionally, Kari Kuelzer serves hundreds of tasty homemade “Latke
Squares” in keeping with the Harvard Square theme. Kari’s Latkes are
complimented by her divine homemade “Rosemary Applesauce” made from a
secret family recipe.
The HSBA expects over 300 Latkes fans including a large number of
employees of local Harvard Square businesses, a few unofficial mayors
and Officials, a number of chefs and restaurant owners, nice families,
members of the press, and the HSBA Staff! In addition to Laktes, guests
will be treated to Nantucket Nectars and Jelly Donuts!
Klezmer music will play until the dramatic reading of the “The Latke
Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming: A Christmas Story” by Lemony Snicket and Lisa Brown which will be enacted by the Grendel’s Den and Restaurant bartenders, waitstaff and friends!
Denise Jillson, HSBA Executive Director, said “We are delighted to be able to display our lighted 4 foot Menorah outside in historical Winthrop Park, site of the first Marketplace in New Towne, in the heart of Harvard Square and now a glowing symbol of our Harvard Square Holiday tradition.”
