Massachusetts is nearing a 70% vaccination rate and that is something to celebrate! Please join us as we thank all those who are vaccinated, acknowledge the scientists and researchers who made the Covid-19 vaccine a reality and encourage eligible unvaccinated residents here in Massachusetts and across our nation ‘to get the shot’! The festivities commence at 5pm with a performance by one of our favorite party-starting bands, the drum ensemble Grooversity. This innovative and creative drumming network project, envisioned by Brazilian percussionist Marcus Santos, kicks off the party on Palmer Street. At 5:30pm, the band meanders through the Square to Winthrop Park and our host, Grendel’s Den where the bash continues with the launch of the annual Park Sounds music series. Vendors in Winthrop Park include Grendel’s beer garden featuring Long Trail and Otter Creek Brewing, samples from El Jefe’s Taqueria, Amorino Gelato, and a shopping bazaar by High Energy Vintage. Kari Kuelzer owner of Grendel’s Den said, “We locked down, now let’s pop-n’-lock. We social distanced, now let’s socialize! We earned this chance to celebrate the hard work and resilience of our community. We’re partying with live music, lawn games in Winthrop Park, a beer garden, an artist bazaar and park-side dining at Grendel’s Den Restaurant & Bar. You don’t have to wait for VaxMillions to win a little something. We’re giving out free Grendel’s Den shot glasses you can fill with your favorite toasting libation.
