Hundreds of people converged on Brattle Street to sample distinctive and delicious latkes prepared by Harvard Square Restaurants, while being serenaded by Joe Kessler and his Klezmer band, Klezwoods.
” In addition to a festive crowd, brisk weather , delicious hot latkes and great music, which are the hallmarks of this annual event, it is our restaurant partners that make this event so successful. We thank them all, and this year, we send a special thanks to John Schall, owner of Fire + Ice, who postponed his birthday celebration to serve homemade latkes using his grandmother’s recipe. With Jelly donuts from our friends at the Eliot Street CafĂ©, square latkes from Grendel’s Den, Kugel-flavored ice cream from JP Licks, potato pizza from the Upper Crust, “Irish” latkes from Tommy Doyles, and Scallion Pancake Latkes from the Hong Kong, it is a fun and welcoming way to commemorate Hanukkah which officially begins on Tuesday evening.”, said Denise Jillson, Executive Director of the Harvard Square Business Association.
“And, Happy Belated Birthday, John!”
