The Harvard Square Business Association, in partnership with Channel 7 Foundation and the American Cancer Society, is delighted to invite you to Paint the Square PINK American Cancer Society Block Party in Harvard Square on Friday, September 13th. From 6pm – 9pm, we will be transforming Brattle Street (from Eliot Street to Church Street) into a pink party like no other, raising awareness for breast cancer, cancer survivors and all those who love and support them! Enjoy pink wines in our expanded wine garden, shop for specialty items and gifts and dance the night away under the stars!
This free, family-friendly kickoff event of the Channel 7 Foundation and American Cancer Society Making Strides Walk (happening on October 5th) will feature a wine garden hosted by Commonwealth Wine School, who will be serving an array of refreshing pink wines. A portion of sales that evening will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Movement, Boston Strides.
Boston based Folk Rock / Indie / Pop / Singer-Songwriter Ryan LaPerle shared the stage with National Artists like Matthew Perryman Jones, The Kin and Joshua James. This New Hampshire native has toured from his home state to SXSW in Austin, Texas. LaPerle’s sound has been compared to such artists like John Mayer, Zach Bryan, Mat Kearny and Ed Sheeran.
While you’re listening to great music and sipping celebratory wine, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind vintage clothing from The Attic. Our local Lovepop store will be onsite featuring their spectacular three-dimensional greeting cards. We invite you to stop by and visit our friends from Breathe Cambridge, The Comedy Studio, GIVE H20, Ninwana Fashion and City of Cambridge Participatory Budgeting Department who will share their stories, latest deals and neighborhood updates. The American Cancer Society (ACS) will also be on hand providing resources for survivors and those currently facing cancer related challenges. Breast cancer survivors will receive a free gift which includes items generously donated by El Jefe’s Taqueria, Lovepop and Zinnia Jewelry. Available while supply lasts. As you pass Cambridge Savings Bank in the heart of the Square, be sure to look up! The building will be lit in festive pink lights to honor all those affected by breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society uses the term cancer survivor to refer to anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer no matter where they are in the course of their disease. More people are surviving cancer than ever before. Today, there are more than 18 million cancer survivors in the US. The American Cancer Society works to be sure no one feels alone on their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship, by helping people find the support, information, and resources they need. Find all ACS survivorship resources, including videos on how to cope with the physical and emotional challenges that come during cancer treatment and beyond, at cancer.org/survivors.
This year’s Channel 7 Foundation and American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Boston Walk is taking place Saturday, October 5th at the DCR Hatch Shell. You can learn more about Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Boston by visiting MakingStridesWalk.org/BostonMA.
