Established in 2009 with a planning grant from the Cambridge Arts Council, StoryStream Cambridge is a collaborative created by many Cambridge organizations, agencies and individuals committed to promoting storytelling for all residents of the city of Cambridge and to applying the power of storytelling to strengthen education, social services, and cross-cultural understanding. StoryStream has partnered in programming for various city entities including the Agenda for Children, the Community Learning Center, the Cambridge Historical Society, massmouth, the Media Arts Studio of Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge Public Library, Spare Change News, CCTV, and the Cambridge River Festival.
Through the StoryTrades project, funded by a grant from the National Storytelling Network, StoryStream professionals facilitate and record storytelling circles throughout the city in various agencies and business locations. StoryStream facilitator, Jo Radner stated, “StoryStream is proud to join with the Harvard Square Business Association on January 10 for a StoryTrade to honor the retirement of Sheldon Cohen.”
“Sheldon is nearly universally known as the Unofficial Mayor of Harvard Square; this StoryTrade will be a fun and unique way to honor his legacy,” said Denise Jillson, Executive Director of the HSBA.
