The Harvard Square Business Celebrates Black History Month 2025

The Harvard Square Business Association is honored to highlight our esteemed black business owners and civic leaders as we celebrate Black History Month.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.

In 2020, Harvard Square commemorated Black History Month by highlighting iconic men and women who made historic and significant contributions toward social and racial justice, voting rights, civil rights, women’s rights, education and race and gender equality here in Cambridge. In partnership with Daniel Berger-Jones of Boston History Company and Cambridge Forum, we created videos highlighting these distinguished trailblazers who during their lifetime profoundly impacted the political/cultural/academic landscape of the Square.

We invite you to revisit these videos and learn more about their accomplishments.  https://www.harvardsquare.com/harvard-square-commemorates-black-history-month/
