Pickman Hall\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Summer\, Longy’s Divergent Studio will see 50 young composers and performers come together from across the country to collaborate\, create community\, inspire\, and be inspired. To celebrate the beginning of this 2-week journey\, performance faculty pianist Donald Berman and ensemble-in-residence loadbang will present a program of music by composers Luiz Castelōes\, Chenghao Michalis Li\, Elena Ruehr\, Mark Wingate\, and former Divergent Studio guests Matthew Ricketts and Heather Stebbins.

DESCRIPTION:Each summer at Divergent Studio\, the performers are separated into trios and quartets\, and each of the 30 composers are assigned an ensemble. Composers are given a few days to write a brand new new 2 minute work\, the performers are given a few days to learn and rehearse the work\, and off we go…\nLeonard Bernstein once said “To achieve great things\, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time.” The composers come up with the plan\, and we give them not quite enough time!
