Mount Auburn Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark founded in 1831 as the nation’s first garden cemetery, is one of the world’s most beautiful places and an internationally-known landscape. Open daily without charge, from 8 am to 5 pm (and until 7 pm during summer). Picnicking, jogging, bicycling, and pets are prohibited for Mount Auburn remains an active cemetery. Known for its history, art and architecture, and horticultural collections. Public lectures and walks. Audio tours available. Group tours by appointment.
