DESCRIPTION:From New Jersey\, John Gorka is a world-renowned singer-songwriter who got his start at a neighborhood coffeehouse in eastern Pennsylvania. \nThough small\, Godfrey Daniels was and is one of the oldest and most venerable music institutions and has long been a hangout for music lovers and aspiring musicians. In the late 1970’s\, John was one of these aspiring musicians. Although his academic coursework at Moravian College lay in Philosophy and History\, music began to offer paramount enticements. Soon he found himself living in the club’s basement and acting as resident MC and sound man\, encountering legendary folk troubadours like Canadian singer-songwriter Stan Rogers\, Eric Andersen\, Tom Paxton and Claudia Schmidt. Their brand of folk-inspired acoustic music inspired him\, and before long he was performing his own songs – mostly as an opener for visiting acts. \nIn 1998\, after five successful recordings and seven years at Windham Hill/High Street\, John felt the need for a change and decided to return to his musical roots at Red House Records. The choice was driven\, in part\, by the artistic integrity that the label represents in an industry where the business of music too often takes precedence. Now with this\, his 11th studio album\, he returns to his roots with So Dark You See\, his most compelling and traditional album to date.

DESCRIPTION:Hailing from Boston\, award-winning fiddler Isabel Oliart has been playing the violin since she was 3 years old. \nShe began her musical journey with classical music\, and then discovered Scottish and Celtic fiddling through Brian O’Donovan’s show\, A Christmas Celtic Sojourn\, where she was inspired by artists including Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Hass. \nShe started learning fiddle music for the first time in 2009\, taking lessons with Anne Hooper\, and has since worked with other world-renowned teachers such as Winifred Horan and Hanneke Cassel. \nIsabel studied with Lucy Chapman and Nicholas Kitchen at the New England Conservatory and with Bayla Keyes at Boston University\, where she recently achieved her Masters of Music. \nShe now pursues a career in both classical music and Celtic fiddling. Primarily a Scottish fiddler\, Isabel also has a love for the fiddle music of Ireland\, Cape-Breton\, as well as Contra dance music. \nIsabel won the Junior fiddle competition at the New Hampshire Highland Games in 2013 and then went on to win the Open fiddle competition in 2023. She is currently the National Scottish Fiddle Champion of 2025. In 2021 her tune The Top of the Mountain won the Scottish F.I.R.E Tune Writing Competition. \nShe has placed second and third in many other competitions over the past years\, including the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games\, the New England Regional Open Competition\, and the US Scottish Nationals. She was a finalist in the Dan R. MacDonald Scottish Fiddle Competition in South Carolina in 2022. \nIn addition to competing\, Isabel plays numerous shows with many top musicians in the Boston area. For several years she played in a duo with cellist McKinley James\, named Catching Sparks\, as well as with cellist Giulia Haible\, of the Scottish Fish. She regularly frequents The Burren Backroom Series in Somerville\, Massachusetts\, performing solo openings for artists such as Winifred Horan\, and now performs with her band The Isabel Oliart Band\, and with her duo with Sammy Wetstein. She also sometimes performs as a duo fiddle with Anne Hooper. \nThe Isabel Oliart Band consists of Isabel on fiddle\, Anne Hooper on fiddle\, and Sammy Wetstein on cello or piano. The trio recently debuted one of their first shows for a sold out crowd at the Newton free public library. The band will be performing regularly throughout New England and will be debuting a new album in the fall of 2026. \nIsabel has been featured on several radio shows\, including GBH’s A Celtic Sojourn \, as well as multiple appearances on NPR’s Says You. She has also played for many Scottish country dances. In the summer of 2022 she performed her original tune Crow Over the Water at the Rockport Celtic Festival\, accompanied by harpist Maeve Gilchrist. In 2026 she debuted at the New Hampshire Highland Games and in 2026 she debuted a set of her own original tunes at the Pure Dead Brilliant Fiddle camp concert at the Groton Hill Music center with artists such as Hanneke Cassel\, Natalie Haas\, Elizabeth Anderson and Conor Hearn. She can also be found playing at sessions in the Boston area and she regularly attends fiddle camps throughout the year. \nA keen composer\, Isabel’s original tunes can be found on her Facebook page and on her Youtube channel\, Isabel’s Music. \nIn late 2023\, Isabel released her debut album Late Evening’s Dram. The album features Conor Hearn on guitar\, Elizabeth Anderson on fiddle\, Sammy Wetstein on cello\, Elias Alexander on pipes\, and Maeve Gilchrist on harp. Isabel worked with Scottish and Cape Breton fiddler Katie McNally to produce the album\, and it was engineered by Antonio Oliart\, with photography and design by Louise Bichan.

Named Youth Jazz Ambassador by the Humacao Friends of Jazz Association\, Peña has performed internationally as a bandleader and alongside Grammy-winning artists such as Horacio “El Negro” Hernández\, Dafnis Prieto\, Henry Cole\, Richie Flores\, Charlie Sepúlveda\, Carlos Vives\, and Victor Manuelle. \nBorn and raised in Puerto Rico\, Peña began his recording career at just 15 years old as a bassist for the Guess Who Jazz Quartet\, releasing Ready For Departure (2014)\, which won Best New Production at the Fox Music USA Latin Music Awards. That same year\, he shifted his focus to jazz guitar\, leading a group that represented Puerto Rico at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival\, where they won Best Group. \nPeña studied jazz guitar at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico under the guidance of Fernando Mattina and has taken masterclasses with acclaimed musicians such as Miguel Zenón\, David Sánchez\, Vic Juris\, Rodney Jones\, and Barry Greene. It will include a replica of their original six-song demo CD in the package\, along with a deluxe foil-stamped LP jacket. \nTo support the release\, Horse Feathers’ current ensemble of Justin Ringle (guitar\, vocals\, banjo)\, Nathan Crockett (violin\, saw)\, Halli Anderson of River Whyless (violin\, vocals)\, Kati Claborn of Blind Pilot (banjo\, vocals\, clarinet)\, and Luke Ydstie also of Blind Pilot (bass\, cello\, vocals) faithfully recreate the mood of the original release with taut dynamics and sensitive arrangements. \nIn the years following Words Are Dead\, Horse Feathers quietly built a body of work defined by patience and evolution rather than reinvention. Records like House With No Home\, Thistled Spring\, and Cynic’s New Year expanded their sonic palette without abandoning the restraint that first set them apart. By the time of Appreciation\, the band had begun to open its sound outward\, introducing richer arrangements and a subtle warmth that suggested growth without rupture. Through it all\, Ringle remained a steady center\, writing songs that favored emotional precision over spectacle. \nThe reissue of Words Are Dead does not attempt to rewrite that history. Instead\, it brings the origin point back into focus\, offering a rare chance to hear where it all began while recognizing how far the project has traveled since. \nRevisiting the album now\, with two decades of distance\, reveals not just a beginning but a foundation. Four voices in harmony\, fiddle\, cello\, and clockwork counterpoints of guitars draw listeners into an intimate sound world where the magic of old-world traditional music comes to life alongside songs and stories from New England’s vibrant folk music community. But what if it doesn’t? \nAnd just like that\, a new album from Wesley Stace\, formerly (and occasionally still) known as John Wesley Harding. One Last Heist: Metaphor? Reality? Doesn’t matter. It’s being released by the venerable Pravda Records\, September 2 on 12” LP vinyl\, CD\, digital download and streaming services. \nWesley Stace was born in Hastings\, East Sussex in 1965. He released many albums under the name John Wesley Harding\, before switching back to his birth name for more recent recordings\, including 2021’s Late Style. He has recorded duets with\, among others\, Bruce Springsteen\, Lou Reed\, and Rosanne Cash. Stace has published four novels\, including the international bestseller Misfortune\, and recently co-wrote Mark Morris’ memoir Out Loud. He also created Cabinet of Wonders\, a monthly show that plays at New York City’s City Winery\, and which The New Yorker called “one of the finest nights of entertainment this city has to offer.” \nHe has taught at Princeton\, Swarthmore and Fairleigh-Dickinson\, and writes regularly for the Times Literary Supplement and the Wall Street Journal. He lives in Philadelphia.

DESCRIPTION:The Clements Brothers are George and Charles Clements\, identical twins from New England. They’ve been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember and ‘The Clements Brothers’ marks their first project together since playing in the internationally touring grass-roots band\, ‘The Lonely Heartstring Band’ with whom they put out two albums on Rounder Records. With roots\, rock\, bluegrass\, jazz\, and classical influences\, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) aim to capture their singer-songwriter sensibilities in a unique blended voice\, at once enthralling and intimate\, groovy and serene. They are joined by drummer Mike Harmon\, who joined the band after an impromptu late night set at the Ossipee Music festival\, and adds his unique roots-conscious musicality to the group’s evolving sound. SUMMARY:Bandits on the Run
DESCRIPTION:Bandits on the Run are a musical trio from the Brooklyn-Queens border. Born from a chance encounter busking on the subway\, Adrian Blake Enscoe\, Sydney Shepherd\, and Regina Strayhorn defy convention with an impressive trade-off of lead vocals and instruments. The Bandits marry acoustic\, electric\, and bass guitar sounds with cello\, accordion\, suitcases-turned-kickdrums\, and (if you’re lucky) sometimes even a megaphone. \nThe Bandit’s three-part harmonies have been heard filling iconic venues while opening for The Wood Brothers’ 2025 East Coast tour\, on the main stages at Colorado’s Rocky Mount Folks Fest and Michigan’s Blissfest\, and in a sold out residency at Manhattan’s Bowery Electric. Their songs have been featured by NPR’s Tiny Desk and The Moth Story Slam\, as well as in Netflix’s Ask the StoryBots and the feature film The Same Storm. The Bandits tour nationally and internationally\, with appearances at Cambridge Folk Festival\, Floydfest\, Summerfest Milwaukee\, Americanafest\, F1 Singapore Grand Prix\, Mile of Music\, and more. Their theatrical indie-folk lends itself quite well to storytelling and their work adapting text for a musical production of As You Like It later became their EP The Shakespeare Tapes. \nIn addition to all their touring and recording work\, Bandits on the Run are also in the business of writing musicals\, sometimes as a trio and sometimes with collaborators. They are currently creating the stage musical adaptation of the novel What’s Eating Gilbert Grape with actor-musician-longtime friend Christopher Sears and newfound friend Academy Award Nominee Peter Hedges\, supported by MCC Theater. Bandits on the Run are also developing an original musical\, Yukon Ho\, about a group of Black prospectors in the Alaskan gold rush\, Yukon Ho was researched on the ground in Skagway\, Alaska with support from the NEA\, and has been workshopped with support from Prospect Musicals. They are alumni of several musical theater writing development programs\, including Berkeley Rep Ground Floor\, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat\, and the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Grove at Goodspeed Musicals. \nAdrian\, Sydney\, and Regina bring their individual corners of the creative universe into the room when they collaborate. Adrian Blake Enscoe made their Broadway debut in The Avett Brothers’ Swept Away in 2024 and can be seen playing Austin Dickinson in the Apple TV+ Series Dickinson. Sydney Shepherd was most recently seen in the 2025 world premiere of The Ruins at the Guthrie Theater.
