SUMMARY:VOCALIST JUDY WEXLER
DESCRIPTION:Praised by JazzTimes Magazine as “one of the most compelling vocalists on the West Coast\,” Judy Wexler returns to Scullers for an evening showcasing striking arrangements from her seven Billboard and JazzWeek charting albums. Known for a repertoire that surprises\, charms\, and sidesteps the predictable\, Judy brings a deeply personal sensibility to songs by a wide-ranging group of jazz and pop composers\, from Carole King\, Paul Simon\, and Bob Dylan to Harold Rome\, Michel Legrand\, and the Gershwins. She will be joined by an acclaimed NYC rhythm section—pianist Jim Ridl\, bassist Bill Moring\, and drummer Tim Horner. \n  \nOver her 20-year career\, Judy has headlined jazz festivals\, performing arts centers\, and premier jazz clubs in the U.S. and internationally. Her seventh album\, No Wonder (2025)\, received widespread acclaim\, with critics praising her gift for storytelling and the UK’s Bebop Spoken Here hailing it as “an overall bravura performance.” The album enjoyed extensive national jazz radio airplay\, reaching #19 on the JazzWeek chart and earning a place on JazzWeek’s Top 100 Albums of 2025.

SUMMARY:LITTLE MISS AND THE BOOM
DESCRIPTION:Jazz\, blues\, swing\, and a whole lot of sass. Little Miss and the Boom bring a show that’s stylish\, playful\, and impossible to forget. \nLittle Miss and the Boom bring Scullers audiences a show that feels both polished and delightfully unpredictable. Blending jazz sophistication with blues grit\, buoyant swing\, and a retro-modern sensibility\, this is a night designed to be felt as much as heard. \nAt the center is Little Miss\, a magnetic frontwoman whose voice\, timing\, and playful sass fill the room. She doesn’t simply perform the songs\, she lives inside them\, drawing the audience into a lively exchange of glances\, humor\, and spontaneous moments. Every performance carries its own spark\, shaped by the energy in the room and the easy rapport she builds with the crowd. \nBehind her\, the six-piece band delivers sharp\, stylish arrangements that swing with intention and ease. The musicianship is precise but never rigid\, leaving room for personality\, surprise\, and the kind of interplay that keeps the music fresh and engaging from start to finish.

SUMMARY:BRANDON SWINGMAN SANDERS with Special Guests WARREN WOLF AND GREGORY GROOVER JR.
DESCRIPTION:He couldn’t have provided a better example than Compton’s Finest. Between the lively\, genial readings of the standards “Softly\, as in a Morning Sunrise” and “Monk’s Dream\,” the melodic soul of Sanders’s two originals “Compton’s Finest” and “SJB\,” or the masterful vocals from special guest Jazzmeia Horn on Stevie Wonder’s “I Can’t Help It” and Duke Ellington’s “In a Sentimental Mood\,” Sanders’s maiden voyage on record is a serious accomplishment. -Terry Hinte – allaboutjazz.com
