SUMMARY:Film Screening: Part 1
DESCRIPTION:A two-part screening across two evenings — a space to watch and reflect together \nAs I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty by Jonas Mekas \nJoin us for a rare viewing of this 4 hour 48 minute experimental film by Lithuanian filmmaker and poet Jonas Mekas\, a central figure in diaristic filmmaking. In this composition of home-movie fragments\, passing moments\, and seasons of life assembled over 30 years there is no single narrative to follow. Instead\, the film moves like memory itself: intimate\, drifting\, attentive to the beauty of ordinary life. \nRegistration required. Limited seating available. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests are welcome to attend one or both screenings. \nLight concessions will be available for purchase at the event. \nFollowing each screening\, there will be an optional\, casual discussion facilitated by Spring 2026 Artist-in-Residence Alyson Wong. Feel free to join or head out whenever. \nFilm screening courtesy of the Mekas Estate.

SUMMARY:Perpetual Calendar Collaborative Design Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will provide a framework for procedural art making\, and encourage skill sharing within the collaborative design process. Bring your own expertise and help us decorate Still Life Studios with a perpetual calendar. \nA perpetual calendar is a catalogued delineation of time that doesn’t expire at the end of the Gregorian year. There are fourteen different configurations of the calendar year\, and we are producing all fourteen of them in one site-specific installation for the studio space. Artist in Residence\, Luc Grenier\, is facilitating a collaborative design workshop at Still Life Studios in three weekly sessions where we will be cooperatively exploring how we ritualize and account for the passing of time. Join us for all three\, or come whenever you can.
