Harvard Square Construction Update

PUBLIC TOILET AT MACARTHUR SQUARE

In the next week, the city’s contractor, Newport Construction, will mobilize to perform the utility work necessary for the new public toilet to be installed in MacArthur Square near Church St.  The new facility, which is modeled after the “Portland Loo” of Portland, Oregon, is a simple, sturdy, graffiti-resistant, flush toilet kiosk, located on the sidewalk along MacArthur Square.

Crews will perform utility work adjacent to the park and site work within the park over the next few months.  We expect the toilet to be installed and fully operational in the spring of 2015.

MOUNT AUBURN STREET SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS

In the spring of 2015, the City’s contractor, Newport Construction, will mobilize on Mt. Auburn St between JFK St and Holyoke St to begin surface improvements.   The scope of project includes improved drainage, reconstructed roadway and sidewalks, new lighting fixtures and tree plantings.
