Parsnip Restaurant & Lounge Announces New Executive Chef
Parsnip Restaurant & Lounge has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Salazar as Executive Chef. Chef Salazar is reimagining the menu to offer New American, seasonally inspired, and ingredient-driven cuisine in the restaurant’s contemporary and relaxed setting. The menu reflects his approachable and outgoing personality and pairs some of his favorite ingredients together with his Asian heritage.
Harvard Square Kiosk and Plaza
In 2017, the City established a Harvard Square Kiosk and Plaza Working Group, composed of residents, business and property owners, representatives from local institutions, and urban design experts, to create a vision for the future use, operation, and governance of the Harvard Square Kiosk and Plaza.
The Working Group process has involved broad public input, including surveys, community meetings, pop-up workshops, and a Call for Ideas. Based on this community feedback and regular meetings, the Working Group developed a set of recommendations for the future of this space in the heart of Harvard Square, featured in the Vision (also see below) and Recommendations sections of the Working Group Final Report.

Homeless Empowerment Project – Treasurer (Volunteer)
The Homeless Empowerment Project (HEP) is a not-for-profit corporation with an annual budget of $150,000 and five paid staff positions (all part-time). Every other week for the past 25 years, HEP has published Spare Change News, a street newspaper addressing issues of homelessness, poverty, and social justice in the Greater Boston area. HEP’s mission is to give the homeless a voice while providing them with opportunities to earn a supplemental income and gain valuable skills to improve their lives.
