The first guest composer of the 2026 edition of Longy’s Divergent Studio is Grammy Award winning composer/performer Eve Beglarian. The Los Angeles Times calls her a “humane, idealistic rebel and a musical sensualist” while the Academy of Arts and Letters awarded her for “a spectacular body of work that innovates and takes enormous risks.” Tonight, our students and faculty perform works from this truly spectacular body of work, largely drawn from the River Project, a 2009 ‘human powered’ trip the composer took down the Mississippi, musically documenting the people she met, the places she visited, and the sounds that she heard.
