Michael Prentky is a musical omnivore and polyglot on trombone. His debut album sad boy:ADD:apocalypse (Fall 2025) is described as “intense but… satisfying as it is daring” (Noah Shaffer WBUR). The music combines disparate interests such as Frank Zappa, Klezmer and Vijay Iyer. His follow up project is an original klezmer brass band; dreaming to usher klezmer into the 21st century. As a freelancer, navigating performances with rapper 50 Cent, Mozambican Funk band Kina Zoré (featured on NPR Tiny Desk), avante-garde jazz with the Walking Cliché Sextet, or Balkan Romani music with Sarma Brass Band requires an adventurous and reliable musicianship.
