Worst-Wintah-Evah and How You Can Make it a Little Warmer

As of March 4, 2015, Boston has experienced the second snowiest winter in recorded history, and with just two more inches to go, the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Boston – Cambridge is wishing for more snow.  Looking to make the best of what could be one of the worst winters we’ve seen in a long time, the hotel is asking guests and locals to bring in warm winter items to be donated to the local Harvard Square Homeless Shelter between now and March 20, 2015.

Rest In Peace Boris Nemtsov

A makeshift memorial to Boris Nemtsov has been carved out amidst a dirty and icy snow mound by the Igor Fokin Memorial in Harvard Square.  The HSBA is honored that the local Russian community chose this location in Harvard Square to remember Boris Nemtsov, a leading Russian opposition political leader.

Harvard Square Startup Debuts a Super-Skinny Wallet on Kickstarter

Kiril and Catherine Alexandrov are the founders of Big Skinny Wallets, home of the “world’s thinnest wallets.” Aiming to eliminate the problems posed with bulky, heavy wallets, Kiril and Catherine developed wallets that are lighter, thinner and more durable than regular wallets. 

 

THE WEEKLY INTERVIEW: GUSTER DRUMMER BRIAN ROSENWORCEL

Guster began in the mid-’90s as a folk-leaning trio fond of busking in Harvard Square. In the years since, the band has moved on to more traditional concert venues, and augmented its plaintive acoustic guitar-and-bongo songs with instrumental color. New LP Evermotion adds shimmering keyboards, blocky synths, twinkling percussion and psychedelic-pop flourishes to the palette.

Harvard Summer School Opening Weekend, June 21 and 22

On Opening Weekend, the Harvard Summer School welcomes over 3,000 students from all over the world to the Harvard campus. Two thousand of these students will be moving into Harvard dorms and houses on Saturday and Sunday, with the remaining commuting students checking-in on both this weekend and into the following week to finalize registration.
