Loy Krathong
, often known as Thailand’s Festival of Lights, is a centuries-old cultural celebration traditionally held on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar.

During this festival, Thai people float beautifully decorated baskets called krathongs, traditionally made from banana leaves, flowers, candles, and incense, on rivers and waterways. This symbolic tradition is a way of expressing gratitude and asking forgiveness from the Goddess of Water, while also letting go of negativity, worries, and misfortunes from the past and welcoming new beginnings.

The festival represents gratitude, renewal, hope, and the beauty of Thai cultural heritage.

Through our Loy Krathong Thai Night Market at Harvard Square, we hope to share this meaningful tradition with the Cambridge community and introduce visitors to the richness of Thai culture through authentic Thai food, handmade crafts, traditional decorations, cultural performances, music, and festive activities.

Our goal is not only to create a wonderful evening for families and visitors but also to bring communities together through cultural appreciation and celebration.
