Cambridge United - Where the World comes Together
This June and July, Cambridge comes alive with the world’s game. Cambridge United is a free, citywide series of outdoor soccer screenings and community celebrations — open to everyone, happening right in your neighborhood.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just discovering the sport, come for the match and stay for the food, music, culture, and community that make Cambridge one of the world’s most welcoming cities.
Come Early!
Revels has curated an entertainment lineup beginning at 5pm thar is not to be missed!
5pm – 6pm
Join Revels and David Coffin for a sing-a-long of beloved songs of hope and peace!
Song sheets will be available (in paper and on-line)
David Coffin has been leading audiences in song for Revels for the past 47 years. There’s nothing he enjoys more than singing with a crowd. The majority of his songs are based in the Maritime Tradition and when he’s not performing, he can be found narrating Boston Harbor history on a boat in Boston Harbor. He’s currently gearing up for Tall Ships coming to Boston in early July. While he never qualified for a single international soccer team he does enjoy singing before a World Cup match. Plan on joining in on some familiar songs as well as some of his favorite Sea Chanteys. Singing and soccer go hand-in-hand, so come with your voices and stay for the game.
6pm – Iraq vs Norway on a huge screen!
Iraq hasn’t played at the finals since a 1-0 defeat to the hosts at Mexico 1986, and are looking to mark their comeback by banking a first point. Norway, for their part, hasn’t participated since a 1-0 loss to Italy in the last 16 of France 1998, a result which followed a heroic group-stage campaign in which they defeated Brazil in Marseille.
While we will have limited seating available, bringing folding chairs or blankets to sit on is encouraged!
Approximately 7:30pm – 10:00pm
Experience traditional English folk dancing by the Pinewood Morris Men, the oldest morris team in North America!
The Pinewood Morris Men
The Pinewoods Morris Men are, by all accounts, the oldest morris team in North America. An outgrowth of the Pinewoods dance camp, PMM was organized in 1964. Although they usually say they are from Boston, their members are scattered across greater Boston and beyond, and they dance annually throughout New England (and occasionally old England). Pinewoods have also been a definitive part of The Christmas Revels (now sometimes known as The Midwinter Revels) since its inception in 1971.
Harvard Square favorite HONK! bands, Dirty Water Brass Band and Good Trouble Brass Band, keep the energy up and the party going!
Dirty Water Brass Band
“Well I love that dirty water. Oh, Boston you’re my home!”
Dirty Water Brass Band, a Boston-based undefinable raucous street band, a staunch contributor to the many grooves that make this town tick.
They bring their movable block party to you, doesn’t matter where. Their style is eclectic, a mix of second line, soul, R&B, Motown, rock, jazz and more.
Dirty Water performs in the Boston and surrounding areas of New England, with a particular penchant for playing outdoors. They are unplugged and mobile, giving them the flexibility to jump into many local parades and participate in many annual outdoor events such as the renowned PorchFest and HONK! festivals.
The band has grown from initially 5 members to as many as 11. And we do NOT “have to be in by twelve o’clock!”
In 2023, they decided to change their name from the Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band to the Good Trouble Brass Band. It derives from the simple, yet powerful, maxim of the late civil rights icon and congressional representative, John Lewis, who once said: “When you see something that’s not right, not fair, not just, say something, do something, get in trouble, Good Trouble!”
Their commitment to New Orleans music and culture remains part of their identity. And, as always, their mission involves collaborating with activists and organizations working for a variety of progressive causes. They continue to be loud and proud, acoustic and mobile.
Stop by the Revolution Soccer booth to try your hand at their inflatable accuracy kick, play a game of cornhole and get your photo taken with their mascot!
5pm – 10pm
