It’s peak Mid-Century sci-fi when a scientist is recruited to join a mysterious project that turns out to be an effort by a group of platinum blonde aliens to save themselves from an unwinnable war. With fabulous Atomic Age set design, those saturated Technicolor colors, and the legendary creature design of the Metaluna Mutant alien soldiers, THIS ISLAND EARTH is one of the best examples of 1950’s sci-fi cinema. Brattle Debut
Double feature with FORBIDDEN PLANET
