As part of the rehabilitation of the Cambridge Common and Flagstaff Park, MassDOT’s contractor, Newport Construction will mobilize on Massachusetts Ave near the intersection of Garden St on Thursday, June 12.

Harvard Summer School Opening Weekend, June 21 and 22

On Opening Weekend, the Harvard Summer School welcomes over 3,000 students from all over the world to the Harvard campus. Two thousand of these students will be moving into Harvard dorms and houses on Saturday and Sunday, with the remaining commuting students checking-in on both this weekend and into the following week to finalize registration.

Everyone Loves Latkes

The Harvard Square Business Association celebrated Hanukkah by serving free Latkes on Saturday, December 8th at our 7th annual “Everyone Loves Latkes” Party!

Harvard Square Launched Creating Art to End Homelessness

The Outside In Project launched its national campaign to help end homelessness with its first action in Harvard Square on Saturday, December 15th by completely altering the Palmer Street facade of 8 Brattle Street with thought provoking posters. The art installation and community action will took place between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. and a public reception was held on the corner of Palmer and Brattle Streets at 3:00 p.m.

Larz Anderson Bridge Construction Updates

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is undertaking a major project to rehabilitate and restore the historic Anderson Memorial Bridge, a key Charles River crossing. 

Cambridge Firefighters Join With Marines in Annual “Toys-For-Tots” Drive

Cambridge Firefighters will once again partner with the United States Marine Corps Reserve in collecting toys in the annual “Toys-for-Tots” drive. Now in its’ 64th year, the program was started in Los Angeles, CA when a handful of Marine Reservists distributed 5,000 toys to needy children on Christmas Eve 1947.

On Sun., October 21 those who are out and about in Harvard Square will have a chance to see the L.L.Bean Bootmobile – a larger-than-life sized vehicle in the form of the famous L.L.Bean Boot.
